|
SWORDMASTER - ACTION DIRECTOR - WHIP MASTER
HIGHLANDER - STAR TREK: VOYAGER - SINBAD - QUEEN OF SWORDS - SECONDHAND LIONS - THE RUNDOWN
Martinez Academy of Arms is proud to host a two-day workshop taught by Anthony De Longis, well known Fight Choreographer and Action Director. Mr. De Longis is a sword master, weapons specialist and action actor. He is also an honorary member of the SAFD. He is renowned for training and working with actors to develop their skills with a large variety of weaponry, including period swords, empty hands fighting techniques and flexible weapons such as bullwhips.
Anthony, recently completed the feature film SECONDHAND LIONS, working as Sword Master for Walter Scott. He was also Whip Master on THE RUNDOWN, where he trained the whip fighters, all accomplished martial artists, to incorporate the ultimate flexible weapon into their fighting vocabulary.
For a complete of his accomplishments and biography, visit Mr. De Longis’ website at: www.delongis.com.
SWORDPLAY FOR THE STAGE AND SCREENWill cover the basics of grip, parries, footwork (both linear and triangular/circular), chambered hands for double sword & companion weapons and De Longis' unique safety protocol. The class will develop the skills necessary to learn the climactic final duel in Second Hand Lions.
ANATOMY OF THE BULLWHIPMr. De Longis will continue the weekend by offering a basic introduction to learning the mysteries of the whip. He will demonstrate the whip in action. The De Longis rolling style utilizes structure and alignment to produce explosive energy in the bullwhip with a minimum of effort. This method combines knowledge and martial arts training to safely generate and focus the 700 mph velocity of the world's fastest and most powerful flexible weapon. The participants will learn the skills taught to the whip fighters on "The Rock’s" new film, THE RUNDOWN. The participants will work in small groups with whips and ropes to cultivate safe, consistent accuracy in his flowing style. Along with his wife, Mary, they will also demonstrate a synchronized bullwhip tango routine.
